This is a really cool expansion of what can be done with synths. After a few decades of attempts to reinvent synth controllers it turns out the most intuitive way to get a lot of expression is a regular piano keyboard with a few extra tricks. And I love the "only Anthony could pull this off" of having 4 2600s and a Moog modular being controlled by cutting edge tech.

I used to have a Pro Soloist. The only thing I missed about it, was how expressive it could be. I've gotta have a Continuum one day, or maybe a Seaboard (check out some Jordan Rudess Seaboard videos)

Amazing how you guys capture the full sonic spectrum. Great audio. The keyboards sound fantastic, on another level. And that Oberheim 4-voice in the background makes an old school guy like me light up.

You haven't seen MJ then. He's capable of producing a wide range of sounds solely with his voice. He's among the select few who possess such talent. During his performances, he sings various parts, including those typically played by horns, guitar, and bass. And, his beatbox is incredible.

The brain is digital in a certain way. When the analog signal that reaches your ears, eyes, nose, whatever, is translated into electric signals, the information is quantised.

I’m not a fan of the Murican synth jazz-wank playing. In fact it is an incitement to commit murder in retribution for crimes against synthesisers but… and it is a huge but… the duet of two players controlling synths with nuances that were previously impossible is a huge step forward. And is sounds exquisite.

Crazy versatile gear!

These are great examples of the fact that we may have another synthesizer renaissance soon! My mind is blown thinking about what new expressive advancements synthesists my have at their fingertips in the future.

@AnthonyMarinelliMusic Did Mike happen to walk you guys through the method he uses to setup the delay throws from the Matriarch to Ableton? I would love to know how to do that, as I am sure everyone else does too.

This is amazing! I wonder what this can do with FM synths, with the DX7 or if the Synclavier would work with it. The possibilities seem endless.

i finally had time to watch the whole episode. i've been dreaming about the osmose since i first heard about it in its early stages of production. it just seems to open up so many sonic possibilities. the thing that worried the most was how the osmose would and/or could interact with other gear. thanks for showing us that it really is possible and almost mandatory to explore different set ups. some things are still a bit unclear to me: when using the osmose and cvc its a round robin voice allocation system? you said key 1: modular and keys 2-5: the arps. so if you press all 5 keys down, depress the first and press a new key it will be the modular again or is there another system? also i'd be interested in knowing how one can record mpe data from the osmose to a daw. does it record all the different nuances and movements played with the keyboard? has anyone tried out how it works? and yes, i've never used mpe before. thanks!

Man, I wish Bob Moog were still around to watch this video. I think he would have been excited to see it. I'd LOVE to have a Continuum, but just don't quite have the budget so far. I've managed to collect both a Linnstrument and an Osmose along the way though, so I'm happy enough - especially now Expressive E have brought out Noisy 2. But yeah, Continuum must be the ultimate in expressivity.

I really appreciate how you discussed adding sustain and the use case for it. I’ve never heard anyone given an example like that, but it makes so much sense holding the higher note instead of having it instantly decay like the rest of them was a great example.

Hey Anthony, would you consider making a video demonstrating the practical sound differences between analog and digital mod matrix? I am not aware of anyone else doing that already and you are certainly among the most qualified to show the difference.
